There were several reasons to celebrate at the Bundeswehr Day 2016 in Neuburg an der Donau. Tactical Air Force Wing 74 at the air base in Neuburg-Zell, for example, can already look back on 55 years of eventful history. The Luftwaffe is also celebrating an anniversary: it has been in existence for 60 years. For the numerous visitors who had turned up at the air base despite the bad weather, there was an extensive program to marvel at.
The highlight was certainly the flight demonstrations with the Eurofighter Typhoon and Tornado fighter aircraft, the new Luftwaffe Airbus A 400M Atlas transport aircraft and the Sikorsky CH-53G transport helicopter. There were also many aircraft types to admire on the ground: Exhibitors came from five NATO partner countries for the static display. The TaktLwG 74 also showed the already decommissioned types with which flight operations were carried out in the past. For aviation enthusiasts, those responsible in Neuburg had come up with a special "treat": On the Friday before the Armed Forces Day, the gates of the air base were opened in the morning for registered spotters - so that some pictures could be taken in the best light.
